HBS Alumni Angels of Greater New York

Who are the HBS Alumni Angels of Greater New York?

We are comprised of Harvard alumni who invest in early-stage private companies on an individual basis.  We are open to all Harvard alumni and others affiliated with the University, not just Harvard Business School (HBS) graduates.  Since founding, we have built the second largest angel group in NY. Our members have made over 60 investments for more than $3.5 million in 21 companies.  We have recruited over 115 active angels as members, and  over 700 angels/VCs/industry participants on our mailing list.   We also have launched our Fast Track program, which helps VCs and active angels to fill out rounds with value-added members of our network, and we have co-founded the Venture Capital Access Program, which helps women and diverse entrepreneurs raise early-stage capital from our members.

Become a Member

If you are interested in joining as an Angel investor and are an alumni of Harvard Business School (alumni of Harvard undergraduate, graduate schools, affiliates, and HBS programs are also eligible), please visit the HBS Alumni Angels website and select the membership tab to join and pay annual dues.

Shortly after joining HBS Alumni Angels, you will receive an e-mail with specifics for initiating your Gust account to access the HBSAA Chapter of Greater New York’s specific activities, investments, and schedule of events and for completing a membership questionnaire.

Submit a Business Plan

If you are interested in submitting a business plan for funding by the HBSAANY, please visit our
Gust website. We invest in companies regardless of whether any of the owners or management are Harvard alumni.

If you are an HBSAANY member and an existing investor in a company you would like to submit for consideration, please review our Fast Track criteria here.  Fast Track applicants may be eligible to move through our screening process at an accelerated pace given that due diligence has already been completed by a member.

Our Screening Process

We invite companies from all sectors to submit their business plans for funding. Our geographic focus includes, but is not limited to, the Greater New York area (Connecticut, New Jersey, and Philadelphia). The steps in the application process are:
  1. Submit an application through our Gust website.

  2. HBSAANY members conduct a preliminary screening.

  3. Companies that make it through the preliminary screening present to the HBSAANY membership at a Pitch Night. Pitch Nights are held monthly.
